Nmap/Mac OSX PPC

< Nmap
While Nmap can run on both Intel x86 and PowerPC (PPC) based Mac OS X machines, we switched our official binary installation package from universal (supporting both platforms) to x86-only in 2012. Since Apple ceased selling PPC machines back in 2006, the vast majority of our Mac users are on Intel machines and they can download Nmap twice as quickly thanks to this change. The new Intel-only binaries also use less space on their machines.
Users of PPC Macs still have several options:
- Use an older (universal) version of our installer. We recommend Nmap 5.61TEST2, which is available here (28MB DMG).
- Compile Nmap yourself (instructions here).
- Install Nmap using a third-party packaging system such as Fink or MacPorts as described here.
